Sweet, I made it! Good luck to everyone who has been nominated/gets nominated in the last batch. It kind of sucks everyone’s works are scaled down so much as many of these are nicer than they look at first glance when you actually click on them and view the full size version.
I agree with previous statements; If this is put up for public voting, it’s just going to be a popularity contest. If that’s the case, there really is no point in joining. When someone on DA has like 1mil pageviews, of course they’re going to beg their watchers to vote for them and they will. I want the best design to win that Otacute thinks will match their ‘image’, colour theme/logo and their product representative (in mascot form).

I saw a work for the contest in DA,don’t say “Please vote for me” but its obvious that somebody ask for the page or they’ll come to this page to vote for it ~.~.I want too that the winner represents “Otacute”,not be the participant that have more friends…

RakkaKaze,I think that yes,in the rules say “Unpublished submissions”.
The normally in the contests(this type or others) is not submit anything in other webs and don’t say “This entry is mine” in internet because the contests is for vote the better work for everyone(an example is the contest of a editorial in my country that don’t says the name of any of the participans,you only know the title of the manga,the resume and you can read 8 pages).But well…
An yes,the entries 57 and 60 have the same little image XD I forgot say it in my las message.
I beg to differ from that because in the rules which stated “unpublished submissions”, it can also mean that you are not allowed to use/reuse works that you have done before and published on the internet or any media (e.g. doujin manga or pixiv) hence the rules states: “Only original and unpublished submissions will be considered” to further imply that only original and unused/unpublished works will be considered.
Also, in regards to this statement, “Copyright of nominated submissions temporarily belongs to Otacute during the contest.” It just means that Otacute has the rights over your character and that you may not send it to other publishing companies and claim that it is your own work or use it in another contest that requires a mascot etc. Also, it means that any business dealings that concerns/consists of your mascot that you have been submitted is illegal but that does not mean you are not allow to put it on any website and ask people to look at it.
Popularity polls or not, the admins/judges have the final say on the mascot winner. It doesn’t mean the ones with the most votes or comments will win. I’m sure the judges have this in mind as well. Also, I have not seen any rules that specifically says that you are not allowed to put your work elsewhere until the contest is over. If there is, please show it to me.

Well,everyone does things the way you want,and for me,win(or help for it) for say to my friends “vote for me” its so…sad.If I win some contest some day I want win because my work likes to the people and the “X” admins,not for my friends and similar things.
I think that the 99% of the entries must win xD the all participants have worked hard,and are so good artists^^(special mention to Ayu, Bouryoku Shachou,Summanus and others,that I love the entries *____*).

Hmmm… there are quite a few entries in here. Considering mine is #13 and I submitted around Sept 15th, and if these are in chronological order, then it’s safe to assume that most artists procrastinate until the last minute.

I can see why you would think that (and in a lot of cases it is probably true), however, I do know in my case I learned about the contest partway into September and then I had work and a gazillion other things. I ended up busting my tail on the weekend before cause I was still working on some final touches and one more sub portrait (and even then I didn’t get as much done as I wanted). I wanted to make sure it was in a few days before though and mine is still #41. Don’t worry radiant, your work still stands out as a quality piece and props for getting it done that soon.

Yeah, I’m sure the folks at Otacute will see the comments to help give them a feeling of what is liked and hopefully it won’t be skewed. For there though, it is a business decision in the end as what they feel works for their image or what they want to use it for.

Hmm… well, if you use the comments posted on an entry to judge at this point, then there’s no telling who is actually from Otacute commenting that they like it versus someone who follows said person on DA/Twitter/Blog/etc. who doesn’t even go to Otacute and is just commenting because the artist told them to. If it’s the latter, then they’ll obviously comment saying something good, right? I don’t think judging by that is fair either, then. :/
Personally, I think the Otacute team should pick the entry they want to win solely (100%) based on what they want their company to use and nothing else to make things fair. Just my thoughts. =]

It seems that the staff members of Otacute are quite tied up with something! Perhaps they had a lot of comments to sort though? A couple of people have told me they made comments on my entry but it never showed up.
It is definitely understandable that such an important decision would take a lot of time, especially when Otacute can pick from a whopping 71 designs! I’m sure the turnout was much bigger than what anyone expected.
